Spooky ambience. Horror. Darkness looming over scary nights. These words and phrases have always remained synonymous with Halloween; a festival that is celebrated on 31st October in many countries. It is mostly famous for its tradition of carving out a face into pumpkins known as jack-o-lanterns and activities such as trick or treat where kids dress up in costumes and go to each house asking for candies. In case something is not given, YOU are “treated” to a nice mischief or prank (never mess with kids). Both children and adults alike dress up in creepy getups and costumes to create an aura of terror, horror and mystery. Well here at Bennett, we are always keen on making campus life as fun and exciting as possible. So why should we turn away an opportunity to partake in celebration of such a unique occasion? The horror can be felt for real when one enters B Block cafeteria. Here, you can always spot a group of students sporting other-worldly attire clicking selfies and group photographs. From mess to corridors, every place is decorated with stuff that oozes horror.

The event was organized by Pulse (gaming and other events organizing club in Bennett). Flash mob, gaming events; you name it, Pulse organizes it.

Decoration

Here at Bennett, when we say we celebrate Halloween, we mean it. And what Halloween celebration is impressive if there is not stuff striking terror. With spiders hanging down from the roof and on the trees, the shadows made by these little decorations creeps one out to the core. There are bats hanging down, branches with white bandages with blood spots on them, blood dipped fingers and dolls all over the campus. Not even one corner can be walked by without anxiety in mind and chills down the spine. We also had our lunch and dinner below that corpse like structure.

Costume Party

The costume party was called ‘MET GALA: THE WITCH HOUR’; looks like a term taken right out from a gothic horror story. There was a structure carved into the silhouette of a witch riding on a broom hanging down in the mess area spreading the word about the event that was going to turn the “evening into scary midnight”.

The Party

There was a party held in open area near our new cafeteria with music playing out loud. Whether it was someone with horns over their head or a Guy Fawkes mask on their face in red, the neon band was an adornment everyone shared. The neon band was a pass to the party that everyone had been waiting for. Drinks, pizza, pasta complemented with the Indian touch of Dosas, Pav Bhaji; every delicacy was there to satiate everyone’s appetite. Everyone also got a free Monster energy drink upon entry to bring out the devil inside them.

It was a fun night and a wonderful experience.
